A Warsaw-based Christian foundation has called on Polish Catholics to support the asylum claim of 1,500 Syrian Christians assisted by their charity, writes Josef Pazderka.
“These people are in real danger of their lives. If we do not help them now, their blood will be on our hands,” said Miriam Shaded of the Estera Foundation. She added that Christians are among the most vulnerable minorities in war-ravaged Syria. Ms Shaded was born into a Polish-Syrian family in Poland and identified the refugee candidates through her family contacts. “They are mainly children from Christian families in Damascus,” she said.
