Abortion might yet become an issue in the 2015 Canadian general election. Campaign Life Coalition Youth and the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform have launched a new drive using Twitter, postcards and demonstrations aimed at Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau.
The campaign, #No2Trudeau, is designed to highlight Mr Trudeau’s “abortion extremism” and in the process aims to “re-vitalise pro-lifers and begin the creation of a new pro-life consensus in Canada”, according to the coordinators.
Mr Trudeau is targeted for his policy requiring all candidates to endorse a pro-choice position.
Pro-choice groups responded with their own #Yes2Trudeau tweets on Twitter. The pro-life campaign plans rallies and demonstrations in 20 locations before election day, scheduled for October, and hopes to distribute 1 million pieces of literature.
