Love of neighbour, of fellow human beings, can never be separated from love of God. We can use almsgiving as an umbrella term to cover all those good things we can do for other people; saying yes to God and yes to my neighbour. It is one aspect of the season of Lent to be consciously aware of our neighbour, and to plan to give of our time, of our affection, of our service.
