It is important for the disciples … to understand that, despite our study, the Kingdom remains slightly foreign to us; our fluency with the fallen world leaves us struggling to discern and imitate Heaven’s dialect. The goal of listening to Christ … is not simply to hear or even to be able to understand well enough to explain to others, but to be changed. Lectio divina culminates in Contemplatio because all study of Christ is ultimately directed towards the imitation of Christ.
