Bring God’s mercy to the world

On Sunday 20 September, parishes are invited to celebrate Home Mission Sunday, to pray for and support evangelisation in England and Wales. A bishop suggests different ways the vital work can be carried out W HILE WALKING to his first day at university in Buenos Aires, the then teenage Jorge Mario Bergoglio passed by his local parish church and felt drawn to go inside to go to Confession. Decades later, addressing millions from St Peter’s Square, this once-17- year-old penitent indicated that this teenage experience of God’s love and mercy had changed his life, and set him on the path that led to his vocation.
