Marriage is being reinterpreted today by the state. There may be ways in which parishes can both support conventional marriage and rethink its meaningHow different it must be for married people to make a ­declaration of commitment after decades of experiencing married life. Last month, Westminster Cathedral was full of married couples celebrating their silver, golden and diamond jubilees. After the ­cardinal archbishop’s homily, the 600 couples present (with a combined total of 39,830 years of marriage) turned towards one another and renewed their commitment – “All that I am and have I continue to share with you.  Whatever the future holds, I will love you and stand by you, as long as we both shall live.” It was a profoundly moving moment.  I bega
