Through children’s eyes

Christ said “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them” (Matthew 19:14). In some parishes, they think they have to entertain children in order to engage them at Mass. I believe they are wrong. The way to engage children (and adults) when they come to Mass is to help them encounter Christ by experiencing his work in the ministries of the parish. In many parishes, one of the Sunday Masses is designated as a “family Mass” and children attend with their parents. Some of the children attend the local Catholic school and some attend the catechetical programmes in the parish and coming to this Mass helps them and their families to appreciate a sense of belonging in the Catholic community. This is the Mass where many parishes have a Liturgy of the Word for C
