Go the extra mile

In our Lenten reflections, we should always try to check on our complacency levels: are we living the Christian life as fully as possible? This question can be asked at an individual level, but also in terms of the work of the parish community In Lent, the whole Church becomes a catechumen as we journey in parishes with those who are preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. This year’s gospels provide them and baptised Christians with powerful texts that ask each of us to think very deeply about that moment when we are asked to reject sin, renounce the Devil and profess our baptismal faith at the Easter Vigil.
