A 4 day Tablet pilgrimage to Rome for the Canonisation of Cardinal John Henry Newman

11-15 October 2019

Pilgrimage includes a guided tour of St Peter’s Basilica, exploration of Classical Rome (including the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona) and transfers to the Vatican City to attend Holy Mass and the Canonisation Ceremony celebrated by His Holiness Pope Francis. You will also have the assistance of a chaplain throughout.

Day 1, Friday 11th Oct
London - Rome

Meet at London Gatwick for our afternoon flight to Rome (LGW/FCO   EZY8250   1500/1920)

On arrival we will be met and transferred to our Rome Hotel.

Dinner and overnight stay in Rome.

Day 2, Saturtday 12th October
Exploring Rome

Today we will visit the Trevi Fountain, the oldest of the four major basilicas in Rome, and the home to the relics of Peter and Paul, the Basilica of St. John the Lateran, the place where Newman was ordained Deacon in 1847.  We then proceed to the Holy Stairs, the the very steps that Jesus was led to Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem on his way to trial during his Passion. We bring our day to a close with  Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major. Church dedicated to Our Blessed Mother.. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

​Day 3, Sunday 13th October
Canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman

We leave our hotel after and early breakfast and drive down to St Peter’s Square to attend the Canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman who in 2010 was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in London. The afterb=noon will be free to explore the city.

Day 5, Tuesday 15th October
Rome - London

After a leisure breakfast we will be driven back to Rome's Fiumicino Airport and check-in for our return flight home.

We plan to arrive back at Gatwick at around 3;30 in the afternoon.
