Doing Church
Abseiling down the spire, finding stag beetles and singing hymns are among the 50 best things you can do in a church, according to a social media campaign initiated by the National Churches Trust, the charity that promotes and supports the UK’s heritage of church buildings.

The trust is encouraging people to share online their favourite church-based activities. It set the ball rolling by producing a list of 50 unusual things you can already do in churches, including discovering a rood screen and sitting on a misericord.

Broadcaster Michael Palin, vice-president of the National Churches Trust, wrote that despite being an “agnostic with doubts” he enjoys churches as places of peace and solitude.
“Our churches speak to all of us, even just as a tower on the horizon, a spire amongst the trees,” he added.
