Sweet consolation
When Buon Appetito was originally published a year or so ago in German, it gave its readers an intriguing insight into day-to-day life in the Holy See. French and Italian translations quickly followed and now a new version of the Swiss Guard cookbook is being released in North America.

In a chapter dedicated to Pope Francis, author and Swiss Guard chef David Geisser remembers when World Cup fever hit the Vatican in 2014. He recalled cheering the Swiss from the barracks TV room in their match against Argentina – which ultimately ended in defeat for his team.
