Organ scholar Nicholas Freestone has become an internet sensation after his tribute to the singer David Bowie was viewed by almost three million people around the world. He said he was “humbled” by the reaction to his adaptation of the Bowie classic ‘Life on Mars’, played on the organ at St Albans Cathedral.Mr Freestone, 24, and a Bowie fan, said he had no idea it would generate such a reaction. “‘Life on Mars’ was quite an easy choice for me, it’s my favourite Bowie song, I absolutely love it and I also I thought it would work on the organ, it’s so strong with its harmony and melody and it did fit quite nicely. It’s not often you hear a pop song played on a church organ,” he said.Watch at https://youtu.
