The Vatican Museums have launched an iPhone app to encourage donations to major restoration projects. The “Patrum” app, free to download and browse, allows users to learn about the museums’ collection, help fund restoration projects, and chat with other donors.Users who make the minimum US$10 donation (£6.40) become “silver patrons”. Those who fund an entire project become “gold patrons”, winning access to a direct messaging service to allow them to chat with museum curators and also gain a gold badge beside their username. One project is attempting to raise $191,750 (£123,000) to create a new display for the vestments of Pope Clement VIII.
