One of the differences between the papacies of Benedict XVI and that of the current Pope has been the outbreak of a general peace in the “liturgy wars”. Francis has said there is “no going back” on the reforms of the Second Vatican Council while appointing a conservative, Cardinal Robert Sarah, to lead the Holy See’s liturgy department.In another example of “no going back”, the Vatican announced last week that English composer Paul Inwood had won a competition to provide a hymn for the Holy Year of Mercy, which runs from December this year to November 2016.
