The Vatican machinery appointing bishops appears to have clicked into gear under Pope Francis. Rocco Palmo, of the “Whispers in the Loggia” blog, says of the 194 dioceses in the United States just two are now vacant and none have serving diocesan bishops over the retirement age of 75.
