Bishop’s move


 
No news yet of the successor to Kieran Conry, who, almost six months ago, stood down as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton following an admission that he failed to keep his vow of celibacy. It is understood that an appointment will be made sooner rather than later, and whoever takes up the post is likely to already be a bishop, given that Arundel and Brighton will need an experienced pastor. In the meantime, Bishop Emeritus Conry is still living in the five-bedroom episcopal residence near Crawley, West Sussex. A diocesan spokesman told us he understood he was looking for a new home and as a new bishop had yet to be appointed there was no “immediate pressure” for him to leave.
