Victims of bling


 
The Bishop of Limburg, nicknamed the “Bishop of Bling” for extravagant spending on his house, has not just scandalised the faithful but also appears to have traumatised them. The Diocese of Limburg has opened a hotline for church employees and pastoral assistants who feel personally hurt by the saga which saw Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst resign from office after spending £26 million on his residence.  The apostolic administrator of Limburg, Bishop Manfred Grothe, wrote in a letter to church employees: “In the many conversations and encounters I have had since the bishop’s resignation it has become obvious that many still feel personally hurt by what happened in the past months and years.”Fr Ludwig Reichert, one of the 10 priests who will be
