Christians are not supposed to indulge in revenge or delight in the misfortune of their enemies but an exception to this rule can be made when it comes to cricket, according to Cardinal George Pell, the Archbishop of Sydney.A keen sports fan, the archbishop used his regular column in the Sydney newspaper, The Sunday Telegraph, this month to reflect on the recent Test Series, which saw Australia complete a 5-0 whitewash over England, regaining the Ashes for the first time since 2007. “We all know that Christ prohibited revenge, urging us to turn the other cheek,” he wrote. “Christians are not supposed to delight in the misfortunes of their enemies, even when they did not cause them.
