2013 was a dramatic year for the Church, so what might 2014 have in store?Following his appointment as a member of an important Vatican department, it looks increasingly likely that the Archbishop of Westminster will be made a cardinal at the next consistory on 22 February – the Pope could announce the names of who will receive the red hat tomorrow.Vincent Nichols’ position on the Church’s bishop-making body might also give us a clue as to who might be named to one of the five English dioceses in need of a new leader. There are also vacant auxiliary bishop spots in Westminster to fill. Look out for Mgr Marcus Stock, who in May will have served five years as general secretary of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales; also for Bishop John Arnold, a Westminster
