Do you want to go on a journey of spiritual adventure and discovery?

The Catholic Church has launched a new app to help let God lead people "on a journey of spiritual adventure and discovery".

God Calls, a free app developed for vocations office of the bishops of England and Wales, promises to "help you explore your ultimate purpose, and discover your unique path to heaven".

It is in effect a spiritual tool-kit with snapshots of the lives of the saints, a journal to track spiritual growth and listings of Catholic retreats, study days and other events across the UK.

Special resources include prayers for dawn, noon, and night and daily questions to help  understand the Gospel, such as: "Why did Jesus feel it necessary to be baptised, He who was without sin?"

The first "wake-up prayer" for the launch day, 8 January, states: "At the start of the day, ask Jesus to enter your heart by offering him all the activity of the day, and all the people you will encounter. As Him to be with you throughout the day."

There is also a monthly quiz on a faith-related theme and a God Calls’ Twitter feed.

One forthcoming event is a one-day Saturday workshop at Mount Street Jesuit Centre in Mayfair, London, "Through the year with Mark". Another is a vocations weekend for women with the Faithful Companions of Jesus in Liverpool

"Use the App regularly, and you’ll see your faith grow. Gradually – God never pressures – you’ll discern the divine calling. He’s crafting for your future, your happiness, your soul," it promises. "This isn't a lone journey. Christ is walking with you and with others along the road to His Heavenly home. So turn to our events page to discover where you can meet friends to worship God together as Church."
