Ex-Maryvale heads set up evangelisation centre at Buckfast

A new evangelisation has been set up at Buckfast Abbey in Devon. It is called the School of the Annunciation and will be led by Dr Petroc Willey, the former director of the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham.

Dr Willey will be joined by another former Maryvale academic, Dr Caroline Farey, as director of studies.

Bishop Mark O’Toole of Plymouth welcomed the new initiative and said: “The Diocese of Plymouth looks forward to working with the School of the Annunciation so that the Gospel may more effectively be preached in our society.”

The School of the Annunciation will begin by offering a Diploma in the New Evangelisation and is offering short summer schools. Its academic faculty also includes Dr Andrew Beards and Nick Donnelly.
