Turkson links climate and population


In an interview with the BBC during the COP21 climate summit in Paris, Cardinal Peter Turkson, the Vatican’s main representative at the summit, said that family planning could “offer a solution” to the impact of climate change, writes James Roberts.

“The Holy Father on his trip back from the Philippines invited people to some form of birth control, because the Church has never been against birth control and people spacing out births. So yes, it can offer a solution,” he said.

Cardinal Turkson stressed that artificial methods such as the contraceptive pill were unacceptable.
