The Church of England has launched a campaign to encourage more people to leave legacies to the Church, as research revealed that fewer than half of all Christians in the United Kingdom plan to leave money to a church or charity, writes Liz Dodd.
A survey by Christian Research of its “community” of almost 17,000 practising Christians of all denominations found that 55 per cent of Christians did not plan to leave a gift to their church.
It was commissioned by a consortium of Christian charities including the Bible Society ahead of Christian Legacy Week, which fell this week.
To mark it, the Church of England has launched a video to promote legacy-giving to churches. “A Lasting Difference” features case studies from parish churches that have benefited from legacies.
