Theologians analyse love and mercy

Theologians from across the world were to attend an international congress at Vienna University entitled “Pope Francis and the Revolution of Tender Love”, writes Christa Pongratz-Lippitt. Running from Thursday to today the discussions were to analyse how far Pope Francis’ encyclical Evangelii gaudium and the leitmotif of mercy were relevant to conflicts in the world today. Thirty theologians were to address the congress, including Mary Jo Iozzio of Boston College, on “A Just and Joyful Mercy where the Moral and Theological Virtues Meet: the Witness of Pope Francis”.
