Procurator considers Augustus Abbey abuse cases

NINE MEN have had their cases sent to the public prosecutor in Scotland in connection with historic allegations of abuse at Fort Augustus Abbey, a Catholic boarding school in the Highlands that closed in 1993, writes Liz Dodd.

The Procurator Fiscal at Inverness will now decide whether to bring the cases to court. Police had been investigating allegations of abuse at Fort Augustus, near Loch Ness in East Lothian, and its nearby preparatory school, Carlekemp.

Allegations of both physical violence and sexual abuse were aired in a BBC Scotland documentary, Sins of Our Fathers, in 2013.
