Watch the live feed of the presentation of the Pope’s green encyclical, Laudato Si’

Pope Francis' encyclical on the care of the environment, Laudato Si’ is being presented at the Vatican.

You can watch a live feed of the press conference below.

Cardinal Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, is presenting the document, alongside Orthodox Metropolitan John Zizioulas of Pergamon, representing the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Orthodox Church, and Professor John Schellnhuber, founding director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Yesterday Pope Francis urged people to accept the document with an “open spirit”. He said the message of the encyclical was an appeal to responsibility, “based on the task that God has given to man in creation: ‘to till and tend’ the ‘garden’ in which humanity has been placed” and stressed that the text “places itself in the line of the Church's social doctrine.”

The full text of the encyclical and news coverage will be posted on www.thetablet.co.uk from 11am UK time.

You'll find full coverage of the encylical – the politics, the spirituality, the influences and the role of St Francis of Assisi – in the 20 June issue of The Tablet.
