Sarah Teather among those named to CSAN board

Sarah Teather is among four new trustees named today to the board of the Caritas Social Action Network.

The Catholic Liberal Democrat MP and former minister announced in 2013 that she intended to resign as an MP following this May’s General Election because she could no longer support her party’s stance on immigration and welfare.

She will be joined on the board of CSAN, the bishops’ conference social justice charity, by Bishop Tom Williams, an auxiliary in Liverpool, Steven Webb, the Director of the Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society and Liz Dodds, a trustee of Nugent Care.

Ms Teather said commented: “On a whole range of policy areas that affect the poorest and most marginalised there is an urgent need for advocacy that makes the case for human value and dignity. That is what CSAN does. It is a great privilege to join the team.”

Last month it was announced that after the election Ms Teather is also to join the Jesuit Refugee Service as an adviser.
