Prince Charles to visit Iraqi Catholics in London

The Prince of Wales is to visit an Iraqi Catholic congregation in London whose members have fled violence in their homeland.

The Prince will meet members of the Chaldean community, who worship in a Catholic church in Acton, next Tuesday.

There are approximately 4,000 Iraqi Chaldean Christians in the UK. The Prince has spoken out about the plight of the Middle East’s ancient Christian communities, which are being driven from the region by conflict, unemployment and persecution.

Last month he visited an Armenian church in London and said it was a “most soul-destroying tragedy that the Armenian Church is facing such indescribable persecution” especially in Iraq and Syria. He also visited Syriac Orthodox and Coptic churches in England.
