Prince of Wales to address House of Lords on religious freedom

The Prince of Wales will tomorrow deliver a speech on religious freedom to the House of Lords.

The video message will be shown to Parliamentarians and members of different faiths to mark the launch of the Religious Freedom in the World Report – 2014 produced by the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need.

At a reception for Christians held at Clarence House last year Prince Charles spoke out on behalf of persecuted Christians.

He also told Chaldean Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako in a letter in September that he was “heartbroken” by the situation in Iraq, as it was revealed that he has donated money to help suffering Christians through Aid to the Church in Need.

Attendees at the event in the Attlee Room are due to include Archbishop Antonio Mennini, the Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, the President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria and the Assistant Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra.
