My penfriend, a prisoner on California’s Death Row, has written to me again.
I look forward, with joy, to his letters, whose simple expressions of gratitude and hope never fail to shore me up. Now he reports that he and his fellow inmates are anxiously awaiting news of a court ruling that will decide whether the executions that have been “on hold” in California since 2006 may now be resumed.
