After the storm


 
All are drawn to do what they can to relieve the suffering which has followed in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. For most this will take the form of a cash donation, which in our parish will be routed via Cafod. It has to be said, however, that not everyone is content that Cafod remains an appropriate choice.In her article (“Could climate change have caused Haiyan?”, 16 November), Elena Curti refers to a recent Cafod document, “What Have We Done?”. This publication could just as well have been produced by Greenpeace or Friends of the Earth; it is completely without any balance. What Cafod overlooks is the presence in the Church of many well-informed Catholics who do not share the prejudices of its pamphlet, and who will not give it funds to indulge its ­formation a
