Delighted to be consulted on the vital issue of family life and the Catholic Church (Letters, 23 November), I settled down to answer the survey, only to find myself dumbfounded by the questions I was being asked. A graduate of both Cambridge and Oxford universities and a practising doctor, I found myself totally excluded by the phraseology and assumed theological knowledge of the consultation. It is essential that a truly effective and representative consultation takes place.
