LETTERS EXTRA: Carmody Grey, Prison chaplains in Wales, war in Syria and equality


 
  INWARD-LOOKING CULT GROUPS Dear Editor, As a member of the older generation with five grown up children I did not find Carmody Grey’s Student Voice last week a helpful reflection on our church in England today. The teachings of Vatican II were primarily a call to maturity, to move from the parent/child relationship to becoming adults in our faith journey. This has led to communities where the sensus fidelium and the domestic church have become the messy reality.   Our experience is that communities which expect ‘high standards of religious observance’ results in an inward-looking cultic groups that exclude a struggling majority burdened by guilt and a sense of failure that we find so often in our children’s generation.
