LGBT Catholics and the Synod


 
When I read that, at the Synod on the Family, Cardinal Robert Sarah had silenced any discussion of homosexuality (“Rising stars”, 31 October), I immediately thought of Jesus’ admonition to his Apostles, “This is not to happen among you” (Mark 10:43). The likening of “homosexual ideologies” to “Nazi Fascism and Communism” only confirmed that this cardinal and I belong to different churches.When, in the light of this rather startling conclusion, I read the gentle, peaceful reasoning of James Alison (“Love in a changing climate,” 7 November) that in its teaching on homosexuality we see “the greatest schism between ‘official doctrine’ and ‘life’”, I could not help thinking that the sooner thi
