Good capitalism


 
In your leader (26 September), some readers may be surprised to find a strong endorsement of capitalism as a “success story”. You urge Pope Francis to give “market economics more credit” on the grounds that “it has lifted millions, probably billions, out of poverty worldwide”. Thankfully, Pope Francis did not take your advice when he arrived in the US, but cited Martin Luther King, Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton as models for Americans.
