Meanwhile Bishop Williams’ successor as Rector of Walsingham, recently Vicar-General of the same diocese, is planning a £10 million development of the shrine. Whilst some proposals are welcome – the Pilgrim Bureau needs updated facilities and minor improvements to the shrine itself, refectory, toilets etc. – one must question the expense and necessity of others.
