Fading imagery


 
I agree with Katharine Crouan’s assessment of traditional First Communion imagery (Letters, 27 June). Sadly, this problem also extends to resources and preparation programmes which often patronise and stunt an intellectual appreciation of the faith. One might think that the internet would provide an ideal opportunity to update our methods of catechesis but this is far from the case. A search will more likely produce what Crouan describes as “mawkish, coyly sentimental and old-fashioned pictures”. Fortunately, there are exceptions.
