While it is appropriate to celebrate “the advances made by Catholics in society” since 1840 we should surely recognise that “The Top 100” (16 May) did/do not journey alone. Perhaps you could raise at least half a cheer for us, the anonymous (except to God) thousands who work to sustain the parishes whence they come.We are the Sunday and week-day Mass attenders, the ministers of welcome, of the Word, of the Eucharist and of music. We are the catechists, the children’s liturgy group, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults team, the SVP, the justice-and-peace group. We are the Legion of Mary, the marriage-preparation and support team, members of various societies and clubs, parish staff, church cleaners and flower arrangers, not to mention our frail and her
