May I suggest that remark of Pope Francis, “When I’m faced with someone who’s clerical I immediately become an anti-clerical” (“The court is the leprosy of the papacy”, 5 October) is his right affirmation of Exodus 20:3: “You shall have no other gods before me.” From the Judaeo-Christian perspective, “isms” are essentially reductionist and so idolatrous.
