Adrian Chiles’ article (“Confessions of a Mass tourist”, 25 April) is very timely and appropriate. Those who attend Mass during the week are often the most faithful people of parish life. They are a community within a community with their own very special spirituality. I know a small parish that has as many as 60 people at morning Mass especially during Lent. The spin-offs from these small communities are enormously important. These same people formed a coffee morning after Wednesday Mass and then a luncheon club. Between coffee and lunch some visited Catholic neighbours who were housebound, while others formed a knitting club.
