I write on behalf of my husband, the late Fr Richard Clarke, who, as an Anglo-Catholic priest for nearly 50 years, so loved his Fridays when his beloved Tablet came through the door. He would spend the week reading it from cover to cover and pointing out to me the articles he wanted me to read. It gave him such joy to see his many letters in print and he was always thinking of different things he wanted to write about. On Maundy Thursday he took to his bed in a very frail state and I then spent the week in and out of the bed with him and, with the help of the Hospice at Home Team and our church and neighbours, we fulfilled his wish to die at home in my arms. Thus has ended our 46 years of happy marriage to a devoted and loyal priest. Thank you to you all for giving him so much pleasure. D
