Recently you reported the new Archbishop of Malta’s decision to live with his parents (Notebook, 7 March). His reason is rather more prosaic then just filial love. I am just back from a week in Malta; apparently there is a shortage of archiepiscopal residences there. There are two archbishops emeritus still alive for whom homes have had to be found. One resigned on grounds of age, and his successor retired due to ill-health. Hence living at home for the new one!Martin Morton, London
