In his excellent article on Catholic-Jewish relations in the last 175 years (“Ties that bind”, 28 March), Jonathan Gorsky rightly mentions the combination of Irish and Jewish people in the East End against the Mosleyites. Other examples of this solidarity, at different times, were the donation of £100 from the Irish dockers to the strike fund of the Jewish garment workers, and the provision by the Jewish bakers of free bread to the families of striking dockers.Harry Lesser, Bo
