Alternatives to Cafod


 
While I am a committed supporter of Cafod, I was taken aback by Roger Morton’s letter (21 February) which appears to be saying that there is a limited amount of money which can be raised in Catholic parishes to address the needs of the developing world and that it should all go to Cafod.I have been involved in the St Vincent de Paul Society’s (SVP) international twinning scheme. which links donor and receiving countries where parish groups (conferences) can link with a conference in an area of greater need in mutual prayer, correspondence and a small sum of regular financial support. My own conference raised money to pay for eight milk cows and heard back from our twin some 12 years later that from these original eight they had now given away 82 cows. One cow does not sound mu
