The general election


 
Mike Craven makes some thoughtful and fair points about Labour’s Catholic constituency (“Must try harder”, 14 February) but misses an important one. Politicians do indeed have work to do to engage with voters of all faiths, and none. Disengagement and apathy aren’t the preserve of people who believe in God. But of those voters who do profess a faith – particularly a Christian one – there is an important distinction between the parties. Labour challenges inequality, has radical plans to tackle poverty, is clearly committed to social justice and draws attention to the plight of persecuted Christians around the world.
