Cafod cuts


 
Last week you reported that “200 supporters urge Cafod to rethink cuts” (News from Britain and Ireland, 24 January). Although there is tremendous financial support from the Catholic community, uncertain overall funding levels require us to reduce our costs. Cafod’s senior management and trustees have proposed a number of changes aimed to protect and increase the funding to the poorest communities, while seeking to reduce costs at home. Some staff have been faced with the prospect of redundancy and this has been particularly regrettable. Reductions, including running costs, primarily affect the London central office, but changes are also proposed across England and Wales.
