America’s divisions of class and colour


 
Perhaps Governor Jeb Bush (“Right candidate?” 13 December) needs to understand that “the timeless nature of the message of the Catholic Church” that he finds so worthy is more than a lofty-sounding phrase to quote. Living that message in all aspects of one’s life is a necessary component of Catholicism. How do his private-equity decisions, as reported in recent days by Bloomberg Politics, square with his avowed Catholicism? America does not need a mogul for president. George W. Bush received the Hispanic Catholic vote by claiming he was “for” immigration reform but did he ever do anything about it except make a speech or two? But we all know the actions he did take in Iraq and Afghanistan. America does not need another Bush in the White House. The
