You reported (“A cry for humanity”, 6 December) Pope Francis’ participation while in Turkey in both Orthodox and Catholic services, yet acknowledging that the Catholic Church has its own issues to resolve over inter-Communion. I have found no personal difficulties in taking Communion from other Christian Churches particularly when I served with the RAF during the Second World War in the Middle East. In my conscience it was right and proper for me to do so at that specific time and place. On these occasions I became, in my mind, one with them and the closeness of common worship was evident to me.
