The correspondence about receiving wine at Communion (Letters, 8 and 15 November) seems to have created a mixture of anxiety and ingenious solutions. The very simple solution is intinction, which does not seem to find favour in the UK. The communicant receives the host in the hand, as we do here, but then dips the host into the wine and receives both forms at the same time, without any contact with the chalice. This practice is the norm in France.
