Jihadi passports


 
You feature the suggestion by Lord Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury, that the passports of British jihadists should be revoked (News from Britain and Ireland, 30 August). This course has been put forward by others, and practical difficulties are being raised.The punishment would be based on alleged actions established only by rumour and hearsay in particular cases, and could probably be legally challenged.It is ironic that William Joyce, “Lord Haw Haw”, was executed for treason in 1946 for the very reason that he held a British passport at the commencement of his collaboration with the Third Reich.
